GMP officers and staff across Greater Manchester work around the clock 24/7, 365 days a year to help protect members of the public and their loved ones safe.
This weekend is no exception. GMP want everyone to stay safe and enjoy New Year celebrations wherever they may be and what ever they may be doing to celebrate.
We have increased resources over the weekend across Greater Manchester to help you safe and cope with higher demands.
But, did you know you can help GMP’s officers and control room staff this weekend?
How can I help?
We hope you never need us, however if you are calling about a genuine emergency, please dial 999 immediately.
If your incident is not urgent, but you still need support, you can report the incident to GMP online?
Report your non-emergency incident here
If you are unable to report your non-emergency incident online, you can still call GMP on 101.
Alternatively, you can report crimes and information to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Why does this help GMP?
By keeping 999 emergency lines free, GMP are able to help people in a genuine emergency faster and help potentially save lives and protect people from harm.
Do NOT hoax call any emergency service
Most people who call the control room do have genuine emergencies, but unfortunately, GMP also see a number of hoax calls, which is completely unacceptable and is behaviour which can divert resources away from people who need the police.
Making hoax calls can be a criminal offence and GMP will act where appropriate. Anyone found intentionally wasting police time risks being prosecuted.
