Kennie Carter
Detectives continue to appeal for anyone passing through the area on the night to get in touch

A 13th teenager has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 16-year-old Kennie Carter.

Kennie died in hospital on Saturday 22 January after suffering a fatal wound to the chest following a reported stabbing in Stretford.

Nine teenagers - aged between 13 and 17 - have already been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail with conditions after being interviewed by investigators from our Major Incident Team.

Three other teenage boys who were arrested have since been eliminated from the inquiry.

Yesterday (Tuesday 15 February), a 13th murder arrest was made - a 17-year-old boy from the Hulme area whom was questioned by detectives and since released on bail.

Kennie's family are being kept updated on the investigation through specialist officers who continue to support them.

So far, investigators from our Major Incident Team have spoken to over 50 people, collated in excess of 100 hours of CCTV and executed over a dozen warrants.

We're still particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving through Moss Road, Thirlmere Road, and Victoria Road  between 6-7pm that night and urge them to check their dash-cam.

Any footage or images from the night should be submitted to our online portal here: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/06GMP22S43-PO1

Anyone can contact us with information - no matter how insignificant it may seem - on 0161 856 9908 quoting incident 2529 of 22/01/2022.

Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

As part of our #ForeverAmnesty campaign to 'bin the knife' we remind the public that there is at least one amnesty bin at a police station in each Greater Manchester district.

We appeal for people to do the right thing, look out for each other and bin the knife; you won't be judged but you might just safe a life.
