Police have arrested a man in connection with the attempted murder of a taxi driver in Bury.
On Saturday 8 January 2022 at around 4:15am officers were called to The Rock in Bury to reports that a taxi driver had been threatened, and attacked with a knife.
Emergency services attended, and a 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with cuts to his body and serious facial injuries.
A 37-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Kay from GMP's Bury District said: "This was a vicious, unprovoked attack that has had a devastating effect on the victim and his family.
"I hope this arrest sends a strong message that this kind of violent behaviour will not be tolerated, and has no place in our communities.
"While we have made an arrest, our investigation remains very much ongoing, and I would like to take this opportunity to ask the public if they saw anything, or have CCTV or DashCam footage of the area at the time, to please get in touch with police.
"You can do so via LiveChat on our website www.gmp.police.uk or call 101, quoting log number 507 of 08/01/2022. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111. Thank you."
