Yesterday evening (13 January 2022) just before 8pm, police received a report that a car had been stolen from the car park of a gym in Salford.
GMPs Tactical Vehicle Interception Unit (TVIU) quickly responded to the report and located the car in Old Trafford just before 10pm.
The owner of the car, Mr Haidar Mahmood, commented: "I was so pleased to get my car back last night after it was taken. I'd like to thank GMP and in particular PC Mark Diamond who managed to locate my car.
"There's so much going on in Greater Manchester every day and so it's really good that the police are still able to find the time to help people like myself out with crimes like this.
"It was magical really to have the car returned to me so quickly, as I really thought at the time it could be gone for good."
Inspector Paul Bray, from GMPs Tactical Vehicle Interception Unit, said: "This was some great work from PC Diamond in quickly recovering this vehicle. I'm very pleased that we were able to return Mr Mahmood's vehicle to him and I'd really like to thank him for taking the time to show his appreciation to us.
"Our officers are faced with a number of different situations every single day and work hard to keep the public safe and to crack down on criminal activity and so positive comments are always great to hear."
No arrests have yet been made but enquiries are on-going to locate the offender. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting log 2767 of the 13th January 2022.
