Police were called just after 6pm last night (Thursday 6 January 2022) to Chorlton Road in Hulme, to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Emergency services attended, and found a 48-year-old man had been involved with a collision with one car, then been hit by a second coming from the opposite direction.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency teams, he died at the scene.
Both vehicles stopped at the scene, no arrests have been made, and both drivers are assisting officers with their ongoing enquiries.
Police Constable Mark Ratcliffe from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is a tragic incident where a man has sadly lost his life on our roads. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
"We're investigating the circumstances around what happened, and we're keen to speak with anyone who may have CCTV or DashCam footage of the incident or area at the time. You can get in touch using LiveChat on our website www.gmp.police.uk, or call 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 2042 of 06/01/22.
