Detectives in Tameside have charged two people with modern slavery offences after an investigation into the exploitation of children in the borough.
Georgia Burns (02/03/2001), of Roman Road, Failsworth, and Jamie Upton (24/02/1998), of HMP Hindley, are both due to appear in court on Thursday 31 March.
They have both been charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, and three counts each of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation (Modern Slavery Act 2015).
Upton is also accused of possession with intent to supply heroin.
The pair were arrested on Friday 5 March 2021 following an investigation by our Tameside Complex Safeguarding Team into a suspected drugs line between Tameside and Humberside.
Three boys - then aged 16 - have so far been safeguarded as part of the multi-agency operation - codenamed Marconi - since it was launched in June 2020.
