On Sunday 4 September 2022 at around 10.30pm, two women were walking home along Edgeley Road in Cheadle Heath, when they noticed a man walking behind them, following their every movement.
As they parted ways, the man followed one of them, running towards her and trying to grab her. She screamed and kicked out, causing the man to run away. At the time, it is believed that he was exposing his genitals.
DC Paul Hewitt from Stockport CID said: “I am appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV footage, to come forward and speak to us.
“It is evident from the footage that he has a distinctive gait and we feel that he will be instantly recognisable to someone out there.
“This was a terrifying encounter for the young woman involved and I thank her for her bravery in coming forwards. We need to identify and speak to this man as soon as we can, as part of our ongoing enquiries.
“If you can help, please dial 101 and quote incident number 2712 of 05/09/22. You can also call the independent charity – Crimestoppers – anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
