Yesterday (Monday 24 October 2022) following an intelligence-led operation, officers from GMP’s Economic Crime Unit and Money Laundering Team alongside TVIU, officers recovered over £50,000 in cash after stopping a car on the M60.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property after the cash was found hidden within the car after it was stopped by TVIU on the M60 northbound close to the junction with the M602.
The man, aged 37, was released under investigation.
Temporary Detective Inspector James Coles said: “This was another fantastic seizure for the Operation Falcon team as we look to crackdown on money laundering and ultimately disrupt criminality.
"We have so far seized over £800k since the start of Operation Falcon in June 2022 and we will continue to investigate those that are profiting from criminal gains, and reinvest the money back into communities and projects across Greater Manchester."
