At 8.11pm last night (Wednesday 2 November 2022), police were called to a collision outside the Manchester Academy on Moss Lane East, Rusholme.
An 8-year-old boy received head injuries after a Mercedes GLC collided with the child who was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury through careless driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Police Constable Simon Venguedasalon, of GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A young boy was seriously injured last night and we need to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to please contact us at your earliest opportunity.”
