Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck by a tram in Chorlton yesterday (Thursday 6 October 2022) at around 12.45pm, leaving her with life-changing injuries.
The 31-year-old was hit by a Metrolink tram, that was travelling from Rochdale to East Didsbury. As it approached the St Werburgh’s tram stop – which is completely segregated from the road – the woman attempted to cross the tramway from the south towards Sidbury Road and was hit by the tram, which was travelling at around 20mph.
Emergency services attended the scene and she was taken to hospital. Specialist officers have been deployed to support her and her family at this difficult time.
GMP’s Serious Crash Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and are appealing for any CCTV or phone footage. They can be contacted on 0161 856 4741, quoting reference number 1485-061022.
