At around 00.40am on Saturday 17 September 2022, four people approached a property on Maple Crescent and set alight the front door before leaving the scene in a silver estate-style car.
Thankfully, the occupants escaped uninjured.
Detective Sergeant Will Hardman, of GMP Wigan’s CID, said: “This must have been frightening for the occupants of the property who, thankfully, managed to make their way to safety.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those responsible. Anyone with information should contact ourselves or Crimestoppers.”
