Crucial Crew’s main aim is to raise awareness with young people and providing life skills.
Officers attended a school in Trafford in January to discuss various topics including road safety, anti-social behaviour and street robbery.
During the event, the students were educated about what to do if a robber asks for your phone, so they are aware to give up personal items to protect their safety and avoid injuries to themselves and then to call the emergency services later.
Last week, the children all did posters on this topic and Olivia was awarded the prize for best artwork and was presented with an certificate by Chief Inspector Christopher Mannion.
Crucial Crew award presentation to Year 6 students at a school in Trafford
Chief Inspector Chris Mannion of GMP’s Trafford District, said: “It has been great to speak to the students and have them welcome us to their school, we hope that the event can inspire the next generation through interesting activities which can enable them to take home some really important life skills.
“It is a priority for officers on our district for us to increase proactive work and engage with students, to raise awareness and offer support, allowing officers to share prevention information as well as signposting students and encouraging them to report incidents of crime.
“It is imperative that we teach these crucial life skills to the younger generation to ensure they are more aware of their surroundings.
“I hope that the activity provides an opportunity to share the knowledge they have learnt with their friends and family whilst having fun.”
