Around 12pm today (Wednesday 19 April 2023), Greater Manchester Police officers in a marked police car signalled for a black Seat Ibiza to stop on Wigan Road, Bolton.
The vehicle failed to stop and officers subsequently engaged in a short pursuit.
The vehicle - a black Seat Ibiza - collided into a shop window on Derby Street, Bolton, causing damage to the shop front and a gas pipe. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the gas board attended the incident to isolate the gas. A road closure was implemented on St Helens Road for a short period of time, however all roads have since been reopened.
The vehicle fled the scene of the collision and specially trained officers ended the pursuit in the interest of safety for other members of the public.
North West Ambulance Service also attended the location after the vehicle collided with a member of the public. A woman who suffered minor injuries was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The Seat Ibiza was located abandoned a short distance away and has been recovered by officers.
