In the early hours of this morning, Saturday 19 August 2023, a 79-year-old man was driving along Palma Avenue near Manchester Airport, when it is believed he suffered a medical episode. His vehicle collided with barriers on Flag Island.
Colleagues from NWAS attended but the man sadly passed away a short time later in hospital. Next of kin have been informed.
There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries reported.
GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forwards.
