Greater Manchester Police are appealing for additional information following an armed robbery in progress involving a firearm on Hindley Road in Westhoughton, Bolton at round 11am on Thursday 7 September 2023.
Armed response units responded to the scene where thankfully no injuries were reported. It is believed no cash was taken either after being startled by the activation of the alarm.
No arrests have been made at this time whilst enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Neil Moss of Bolton’s CID said, “I understand the concern this will raise in the local community, but I can reassure residents that we are investigating this crime with all the resources available to us.
“The firearm thankfully wasn’t used and our lines of enquiry are still looking into whether this was a viable firearm or imitation. Either way it is a distressing incident, and we are determined to find the person responsible.
“We have an early distinctive description that the suspect was wearing full blue overalls with a grey hooded jumper underneath.
“I would encourage anyone in the local area who saw something or has any dashcam or doorbell footage of someone acting suspicious to please get in touch in full confidence, as any bit of detail could be the breakthrough we need.”
Anyone with information that may help detectives with their enquiries are asked to call 0161 856 5757 direct or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident 1351 of 07/09/2023.
