After a successful day of action last week back in Trafford through Greater Manchester Police’s proactive Operation AVRO, GMP officers in conjunction with Trafford Council’s Community Safety, Trading Standards and Environmental Health team attended a premises on Stamford New Road in Altrincham on Thursday 24 August 2023.
A 51-year-old female was arrested on suspicion of modern-day slavery offences and currently remains in custody for questioning whilst a safeguarding plan has been put in place for the victims.
Inspector Scott Wolstenholme of GMP’s Trafford district said; “Following intelligence we received in relation to our Operation AVRO enquiries, we have been able to attend a further property in relation to our investigation around modern-day slavery.
“We have made an arrest in connection with this type of crime which severely exploits people’s rights for someone else’s gain and understand it’s an unreported issue, so want to make it clear we are determined to tackle this head on.”
Trafford Council has since applied for a closure order at Manchester Magistrates Court, which was granted on Friday 25 August 2023. This will remain in place for three months initially.
Details and any additional information can still be shared with officers to help them with their enquires by calling 101 quoting incident 1398 of 24/08/2023.
