Officers were called at approximately 5.10pm yesterday, Thursday 10 August 2023, to reports of a road traffic collision between a cyclist and a vehicle on the roundabout at Ellesmere Circle in Trafford Park.
It is believed the cyclist, a 58-year-old man, was involved in a collision with a HGV, which caused him to come off his bicycle.
Sadly, his injuries were not survivable and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 6.15pm. A 77-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in custody for questioning.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.
Sergeant Phill Collingwood from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This was a devastating incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life.
"The accident occurred in the middle of rush hour at a very busy roundabout in Trafford Park, not far from the Trafford Centre. As such, we believe that there will be a number of people who may have either witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage of the area at, or around, 5.10pm last night.
"We would also like to hear from any of the businesses in the area that may have CCTV footage covering the area.
