Officers were called to the junction of Booth Street East and Oxford Road last night (Friday 18 August 2023) at approximately 10.20pm to reports of a collision whereby a pedal cyclist had been in collision with both a taxi and a bus.
Colleagues from NWAS attended and the 20-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The bus driver was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation while police continue with their enquiries.
A GMP spokesperson said “We are currently investigating this very serious incident and we are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or were in the vicinity of Oxford Road and Booth Street East at 10.20pm last night, to come forward.
"We are also looking for any CCTV, dashcam or mobile footage from the area. The Serious Collision Investigation Unit can be contacted on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 3947-18082023 or by calling the independent charity - Crimestoppers - on 0800 555 111."
