GMP officer honoured by the King

Inspector Kam Hare, of GMP’s City of Manchester district, has been recognised for services to policing, in the New Year Honours list 2024.

He excels at Public Order Policing and has recently acted as the community lead for multiple large-scale events in Manchester City Centre – including various protests, Pride and the 2022 Christmas Markets. Inspector Hare’s effective engagement with organisers, partners, and communities has helped GMP preserve order and prevent offences – with the force recording the lowest rate of crime and anti-social behaviour at these events in recent years.

Throughout his 22-year-career, he has also faithfully supported Citizens in Policing (CIP) programmes both within Greater Manchester and other jurisdictions. In his voluntary work as a Special Constable for another force and in his leadership of Special Constabulary and Volunteer Police Cadet programmes within Greater Manchester, he has improved service delivery to neighbourhoods – ultimately helping to build the public’s trust and confidence in policing.

Known by colleagues and partners for ‘doing it right and doing it well’, he is a credit to Greater Manchester Police and his previous force. Public order policing is of huge importance in the City of Manchester district and his contribution has undoubtedly made the locality a safer place to live, to work, and to visit.
