A murder investigation launched after the death of a 31-year-old woman has been stood down and a 36-year-old man who was arrested has been released with no further action.
Police attended an address on Bateson Street in Stockport at around 1:15am on Friday 1 December 2023, following a report of concern for welfare of a woman who sadly passed away.
A Home Office Post Mortem has since been completed and whilst the cause of death remains unascertained, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have carried out extensive enquiries and are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances.
Detective Inspector Chris Aunins of GMP Stockport CID sad: "I would like to reassure the public that a rigorous investigation is ongoing to determine exactly what caused this ladies death. I can however confirm it is no longer being treated as a murder investigation and further tests will be carried out."
