At around 9.30am on Friday 3 February, police were called to reports of a robbery on Jubilee Way, Bolton Street, Bury.
Officers attended and it was established that a man in his 70s was approached from behind and had his pockets searched.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to that may be able to assist with enquiries.
Police Constable Rebecca Gore of GMP’s Bury district, said: “Thankfully no-one was injured in this robbery, but this was clearly a terrifying ordeal to endure.
“No arrests have been made as of yet and extensive work is being done by detectives who are trawling through CCTV and speaking to witnesses.”
