At around 11.30am on Friday 3 February 2023, Greater Manchester Police received reports of a serious road traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Hare Hill Road in Littleborough town centre.
Emergency services attended and a man in his 80s was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Police believed that the van reversed into the man whilst he was crossing the road. The van then made off from the scene and did not stay to help with enquiries.
PS Andrew Page, for GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We would like to appeal to any witnesses of this collision, or anyone who has dash-cam footage and was driving in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. If you can help, then please contact our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, quoting incident 2288 of 3/02/2023.
"Information can also be reported online at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
