GMP are investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding an incident in Nuttal park in Ramsbottom.
Enquires have so far established, that the child was playing in the park and an unknown man approached the 5-year-old girl and attempted to pick her up and subsequently ran away into the nearby woodland area when her parents came over and intervened.
Thankfully, the child was unharmed.
An investigation is ongoing extensive enquiries are taking place.
Detectives are keen to speak a man that was seen in the area, he is described as a tall, white male who was wearing black gloves, a red bobble hat, a black jacket and had a backpack on, he may be able to assist with enquiries.
Chief Inspector Ian Partington of GMP’s Bury District, said: “We understand that this incident has caused some concern in the community.
“We thank the public for their patience and assistance so far, and ask that anyone with information should contact us first to aid our investigation.
“If you see the man described, call us on 101 quoting incident 1965 of the 12/2/2023.”
