GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit appeal for information following a serious road traffic collision on Atherton Road

Shortly after 6:30am on Sunday 26 February 2023, police were called to a road traffic collision involving a Volkswagen Golf on Atherton Road at the junction with Leigh Road in Hindley Green, Wigan.

It is believed the vehicle was travelling from Wigan towards Atherton and collided with railings at the junction.

Officers attended and it was established that a man in his 30s had suffered serious injuries and is currently still receiving hospital treatment.

GMP are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident - or may have dashcam or doorbell footage – to please share it with GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) so it can help with their enquiries to understand what happened.
