A man from Gorton has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing of a 19-year-old in Levenshulme

Akbar Kafeel Khan (16/05/2002) of Hyde Road in Gorton was charged last night (Tuesday 24 January 2023) with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today.

A woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed while further enquiries are ongoing.

The 19-year-old victim, who remains in hospital in a life-threatening condition, was attacked on Stockport Road in Levenshulme at around 11.30pm on Sunday 22 January 2023.

A temporary S60 stop and search was put in place in the Levenshulme area at 12pm on Monday 23 January 2023, until yesterday.
