A man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following quick action from Bolton's neighbourhood crime team last night (Thursday 20 July 2023).
At around 5.30 pm, officers received reports of an attempted aggravated burglary in the Astley Bridge area, which officers quickly began to investigate.
Approximately three hours later, officers spotted a male matching the description that they had earlier been given.
The male was stopped, with a large kitchen knife and a stanley knife being recovered.
A 22-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article.
Sergeant Carla Deighton, from Bolton's neighbourhood crime team, said: "Burglaries are a priority for us and if we receive a report of a burglary, we will be sure to investigate and look into it as soon as we can. I hope that this quick arrest demonstrates exactly that.
"Anyone with any information on burglaries should contact us on 101, or via the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
