Extra patrols are in place in Oldham following a firearms discharge on Wednesday (5 July 2023).
The incident occurred around Henshaw Street and Horsedge Street in Oldham at approximately 8pm on Wednesday evening. It is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.
There were no injuries and no arrests have been made at this time, with enquiries currently ongoing.
Neighbourhood officers will be in the area to provide reassurance with high visibility patrols - and the officers will be more than happy to discuss any queries or concerns residents may have.
Extra resources have been put in place to thoroughly investigate the incident, and specialist officers are conducting extensive work to ensure the investigation continues apace.
Chief Superintendent Phillip Hutchinson, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “We take reports of these sort of incidents incredibly seriously and I would like to reassure the local community that we are using every resource available to investigate.
“There is not believed to be any wider threat to the public, and we do believe this to be an isolated incident.
“As enquiries continue, anyone with information regarding the incident can contact police directly by calling 101 or using the Live Chat service on our website, quoting log number 1177 of 6/7/23. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“In particular, I am asking anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to please get in touch, as this could greatly assist the investigation.”
