Police have released stills from CCTV (pictured) in a bid to identify the person on the bike, who is wanted on suspicion of causing damage to the police vehicle in the picture, on Monday 17 July 2023.
CCTV images of man wanted on suspicion of damaging police vehicles
This incident was just one of three incidents in 24 hours, which has left two police vehicles off the road.
The first incident occurred at 5.30pm on Bury Road in Bolton. As a police vehicle was driven through slow moving traffic, the officer driving was aware of two males on electric bikes, driving close and gesticulating.
One of them then came up on the outside of the van and punched the wing mirror, causing damage, before riding off.
The second incident was at 9.30pm at the Folds Road junction of Bury New Road in Bolton, when a male approached a stationary police vehicle and threw a brick through the window, narrowly missing the passenger - a student officer.
Incident three occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 18 July 2023, at approximately 4.10am, on Bradford Street, near to Bromwich Street. A police officer was attending a concern for welfare call, when he noted a male on an electric bike approach his unattended vehicle.
He shouted obscenities and threw a brick through the rear window. The rider then made off down Bromwich Street.
Officers are now seeking help from the public to identify these males. Superintendent of Operations in the Bolton district, Danny O'Neill, said: "These mindless acts of violence will not be tolerated by Greater Manchester Police, and we are asking for your help in identifying the culprits.
"I would ask anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage of these areas at the above times, to come forwards. We have now got two vehicles off the road whilst they are repaired, and this is just not acceptable.
"If anyone has information, I urge you to contact 101 quoting crime number 21777/23. You can also provide information anonymously via the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111 or by emailing Bolton's Prevention Hub on [email protected]."
