On Monday 10 July 2023, officers arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle following several offences being committed across the City of Manchester Central district.
He was taken into custody and later that day was charged.
Edward Skinner (24/04/1987) of Lamb Close, Manchester was charged with five counts of thefts from motor vehicle offences and remanded into custody.
He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 11 July 2023.
Sergeant Alex Vernon of GMP’s City of Manchester Neighbourhood Crime Team said: “Having your car broken into and losing your things to thieves can be very distressing and GMP will be relentless in our pursuit of tackling crime in our communities.
“Our officers recently received several reports regarding vehicle crimes in the area including theft from motor vehicles across the City of Manchester and this charge is a direct action in response to these incidents.
“I would continue to urge the public to be mindful when leaving valuables in your car or parking it in a public place. For more information on how to prevent theft from motor vehicle and keep your valuables safe, please visit our website.
"I would also strongly urge anyone who has been the victim of any crime to report it to GMP via 101 or online via www.gmp.police.uk. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
