Neighbourhood officers in Blackley executed a warrant this morning (Friday 28 July 2023) after a package from abroad containing suspected drugs was intercepted en-route to an address.
The warrant was executed on Dexter Road in connection with Operation Concept, in which GMP works in conjunction with colleagues in the Border Force to intercept illegal products before they reach the streets of Greater Manchester.
Officers seized a quantity of suspected cannabis, and recovered a suspected offensive weapon during the course of the search.
A man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs and unlawful importation of cannabis.
A woman, aged 53, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, possession of class B drugs, and unlawful importation of cannabis.
The work forms part of the City of Manchester’s neighbourhood team’s commitment to investigating drugs supply within the city, and acting on intelligence where they can.
PC Thomas Wyatt, from GMP’s Manchester district, said: “We work closely with partner agencies to help with our ongoing community operations, and this was an excellent example of that.
“We are determined to crack down on reports of drugs in the area and we will continue to take action where needed. Manchester’s neighbourhood teams are always doing their best to keep the streets safe and crime-free, so do speak to one if you ever have any concerns or queries.”
Anyone with information from their area that they would like to share can contact officers on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
