Seven arrests have been made following a section 60 order which was implemented in the Brinnington area.
A section 60 order - which grants officers extended powers to stop and search individuals within the area - was implemented for a period of 24 hours beginning at 11am on Monday (10 July 2023).
The order was put in place due to several reports of disorder in Brinnington over the weekend.
Seven individuals between the ages of 16 and 37 have now been arrested on suspicion of offences including aggravated burglary and assault. Enquiries are currently ongoing to identify any further individuals who may have been involved in the incidents.
Detective Inspector Gareth Beasley, from GMP's Stockport district, said: "The s60 order was put in place in response to reports we received over the weekend. We always take reports of violent crime very seriously, and I hope that these arrests show that we are determined to keep our community safe.
"Our investigations are ongoing with a view to bringing those responsible to justice and we are continuing with high visibility patrols to reassure local residents."
If you have any concerns, or information in relation to these incidents, or if you wish to report a crime you can contact police online via www.gmp.police.uk or by calling 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.
