On Monday 19 June 2023 at around 5.15pm, GMP officers received a call from colleagues at North West Ambulance Service to reports that a man had sustained stab wounds.
A man in his 20s was taken to hospital for surgery and his condition is described as critical but stable.
A 42-year-old man who was arrested a short time later, has been released on police bail.
Police are appealing for information and witnesses to the incident, which took place in an alleyway that runs along Kingsway Park in Davyhulme, Trafford.
Detective Inspector Leah Hazlehurst of Trafford CID said: “This was a senseless act of violence against a young man. We are currently following all lines of enquiry, and no matter how small you think the information may be, it could prove vital to the investigation.
