Detectives investigating the attempted murder of a man in his twenties in an alleyway that runs along Kingsway Park in Davyhulme, Trafford on Monday, 19 June 2023 at approximately 5.15pm, have eliminated the 42-year-old man previously arrested for attempted murder, from their enquiries.
Newly released images show a male dressed in dark clothing and a white surgical mask. The hoody displays a distinctive pattern, and he was carrying a Nike branded bag.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may recognise him or his clothing to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Paul Costello of Trafford CID said: "This was a violent, unprovoked and frenzied attack which has left a young man with extremely serious injuries. Our investigations are continuing and are gathering pace.
"CCTV footage has captured the suspect leaving the scene and the images that we have released today show his distinctive appearance. We are sure there is someone who will be able to identify him.
"If you can, we would urge you to contact 101 or anonymously via the independent charity - Crimestoppers - on 0800 555 111, quoting log number 3038 of 19 June 2023."
