This evening, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has authorised a section 60 authority in the outline area of the Limeside in Oldham.
The section 60 powers come under the 1994 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, and will run 24 hours, it will begin at 7pm this evening (Friday 23 June 2023). The authorisation will end at 7pm on Saturday 24 June 2023.
The section 60 authority - which grants officers extended powers to stop and search individuals within the area - has been introduced following reports of multiple disturbances in the area on Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June 2023.
It is believed that two boys were attacked in two separate unrelated incidents across the two nights in question.
