Police have tonight arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of the attempted murder of a man in his twenties, who was subject to an unprovoked attack in an alleyway that runs alongside Kingsway Park, on the evening of Monday 19 June 2023.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
There is currently a scene in place on Kingsway Park in Urmston while a search is undertaken by police teams. This will remain in place for some time.
The victim remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
Detective Inspector Paul Costello of Trafford CID said: “Although this appears to be an isolated attack, there will continue to be extra patrols in the area over the next couple of days, who are there to reassure the community, as keeping them safe remains our priority.
“They can also be approached by anyone who may have any further information which may be able to help us with our enquiries.
“Anyone with any information is also urged to contact 101 or the independent charity – Crimestoppers – anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
