A teenager has been charged with several offences after being arrested in Brinnington, Stockport.
The 15-year-old was taken into custody by Stockport's Neighbourhood Team after eggs were thrown at a police car and officers verbally abused.
He has been charged with criminal damage, attempted criminal damage and a public order offence and was bailed to appear in court on 1 August 2023.
A 48-hour dispersal order was put in place in the area after a series of incidents of anti-social behaviour involving groups of youths at the start of the week.
Dispersal orders provide the police with the extra powers to break up groups of two or more people, where they believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance, harassment or distress.
Inspector John Picton, of GMP's Stockport Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Greater Manchester Police won't tolerate anti-social behaviour and will always take decisive action, which is why we made an arrest and put a dispersal order in place.
"On Monday we received numerous calls including youths firing gel pellets at pedestrians and vehicles.
"One vehicle sustained damage to its windows and there were reports of a disturbance in the street.
"A high-visibility police presence was maintained in the area throughout the duration of the dispersal order and any further reports of ASB were dealt with immediately.
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the ASB and to ascertain where the gel pellets and equipment were purchased."
Greater Manchester Police will be joining other forces in a week of action against anti-social behaviour from 3-9 July.
Anti-social behaviour is a broad term used to describe day-to-day incidents of crime, nuisance and disorder that make many people’s lives a misery.
This can include noise nuisance, neighbour disputes, verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, harassment and intimidation, vandalism, and criminal damage
Insp Picton added: "Officers from our neighbourhood policing teams will be out and about across Stockport next week as ASB will not be tolerated.
"Engagement work is also ongoing; my priority is to build public confidence in the police by working with partners and communities.
"Police officers and PCSOs will be attending public meetings on a regular basis and there will be days of action over the coming weeks.
"Anyone with information about a crime or who has concerns should contact police by using the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk or calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency."
