Thomas Campbell, 38, was found by a neighbour at his home address on Riverside in Mossley at around 10.30am on Sunday 3 July 2022. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation led by our experienced detectives continues.
Today (30/3/2023), a 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He remains in police custody ahead of being questioned by detectives from GMP’s Major Incident Team.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This arrest is a huge step in our investigation, as we piece together what was a horrific attack and find answers for Thomas’ friends and family.
“Our team have been working round the clock and have conducted numerous different lines of enquiry to establish the events leading up to Thomas’ death.
“Our investigation is far from over and will remain ongoing until we are able to say that we have brought all those we believe were involved to justice.
“We are still appealing for information to help with our investigation, and anyone can contact us with information regardless of how insignificant it may seem.
“Anyone who may have any information is urged to do the right thing and report it – it may be crucial in our inquiries.
“This can be done anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or as always, information can be passed to us by using our LiveChat service online, or 101.
“Information, images, video or dashcam footage can also be easily submitted to GMP’s major incident public portal -https://mipp.police.uk/operation/06GMP22G12-PO1.”
