An investigation has been launched following a burglary in the Tonge Fold area of Bolton.
Between 10am and 1pm on Monday 20 March 2023, a man knocked on a resident’s door and asked if they wanted their windows cleaning. After asking to have his buckets filled with water, the man followed the resident into their house where he is believed to have stolen a purse containing a small amount of cash.
No one was hurt but the victim was shaken by the incident. The man was described as being in his 40s, with a stocky or muscular build, a local accent and carrying two yellow buckets.
Sergeant Daniel Richards of GMP’s Bolton division, said: “This is a concerning incident but we want to reassure the community that we are doing everything we can to investigate it. We are currently appealing for anyone with any information to come forward to help us with our enquiries.”
Officers are keen to hear anyone who may have seen anything around the time of the incident. Nearby residents are being asked to check CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage, which may be able to help with the investigation.
