Three boys between the ages of 11 and 13, and one 12 year old girl have been arrested on suspicion of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and Threats to Kill following a series of assaults in February and March 2023.
They were transported to custody in Wigan where they were all questioned by specialist officers.
They have since been bailed with conditions and pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Chris Broad of GMP’s Wigan CID, said “These arrests come from a series of assaults in Wigan Town Centre, where young children, the youngest being 9 years old have been targeted and then assaulted whilst being filmed on mobile phones.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing and we are appealing for any information that people may have in relation to these incidents to get in touch with officers.
“This can be done by ringing Wigan’s Neighbourhood Crime team directly on 0161 856 5308 or 101 quoting CRI/06LL/*7296/23 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
