At around 10pm last night (Thursday 18 May 2023), GMP received several calls about an incident on Harland Way, Rochdale.
Officers attended and it was established through initial enquiries that three men arrived in a white Volkswagen Passat and were brandishing suspected weapons.
The men confronted the victim and threatened him before damaging his vehicle.
The three men then left in the Volkswagen Passat in the direction of Redfearn Wood.
No injuries were sustained and no arrests have been made as of yet.
Detective Inspector Sam Taylor, of GMP Rochdale CID, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation, we have information to suggest that this is a targeted incident. I would like to reassure the public that we are treating this very seriously and doing everything we can to protect residents and investigate this incident.
“We understand the impact this incident will have had on the community but can reassure members of the public that we are committed to keeping people safe, and part of that is removing weapons from our streets.
“There is a scene in place on Harland Way and extra patrols have been deployed to the community and will remain in place until initial enquiries have been completed.
"Officers are following a number of lines of enquiry but I ask anyone with information to contact us.”
