At around 4pm on Friday 5 May, Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a property on Seedley Road, Salford.
Officers attended and administered first aid to a man who was found to have serious injuries. He was taken to hospital for further treatment, but despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was sadly pronounced deceased at 5:10pm.
Following a Home Office post-mortem examination which took place on Saturday 6 May, the death is no longer being treated as suspicious.
Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death are continuing and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson from GMP Major Incident Team said: “Following extensive enquiries, we can now confirm that the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and the 52-year-old man who was initially arrested has been released pending further enquiries.
“Our enquiries are ongoing as we continue to investigate the full circumstances of this incident.”
