Detectives in Wigan are continuing to take action after a series of violent incidents in the Beech Hill area in the past two weeks.
Nine arrests have so far been made and stop-and-search orders put in place since the initial reports of a large-scale fight on Wellfield Road in the early hours of Sunday 23 April 2023.
Warren Fox (01/03/2000), of Skylark Close, Southport, has been charged with possession of a firearm as well as aggravated burglary in connection with an incident at Laburnum Grove the same day. He is due to appear at Wigan Magistrates’ Court today (5/5/23).
The other eight people remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
In conjunction with Wigan Council, two partial house closure orders have been granted on Wellfield Road and Laburnum Grove.
Detective Sergeant Paul Sumner, of GMP Wigan CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate these incidents and there will be an increased police presence in the area while our enquiries continue.
“We are still appealing for any information from the public to establish the circumstances and keep the community safe.”
