GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit continue to appeal for information after a 38-year-old woman sadly dies following a car crash on the M66 in Bury

On Saturday 13 May 2023 at around 3:10pm, Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a serious collision between two vehicles travelling southbound on the M66 in Bury.

A 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Three children were also taken to hospital, two of whom have serious injuries and one with minor injuries.

Sadly, the 38-year-old woman died in hospital today (Monday 15 May) as a result of her injuries.

Her family and loved ones are currently being supported by specialist officers and support services at this incredibly difficult time.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Today, Adil Iqbal (11/02/2001) of Hope Street, Accrington was charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court this afternoon and was further remanded into custody to appear at court a later date.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, dash cam footage and information, and wish to extend thanks to those who have already made contact.
