This charge is a result of an investigation into a murder that took place at around 6pm on Friday 17 November 2023 when officers responded to reports of an unconscious man at a property on Samuel Street in Atherton.
Officers attended and found a 49-year-old man with a serious injury. Despite best efforts of the emergency services, he tragically passed away a short time later.
He was later identified as Paul Marsh and his family have asked for continued privacy whilst they grieve for their loss and are also being kept updated with the progress of this investigation.
A 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons has since been charged with murder.
He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Youth Court on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
