Yesterday (24 November 2023), officers arrested four teenagers between the ages of 16 and 17 on suspicion of robbery, affray and possession of offensive weapons.
The arrests come after an investigation by GMP’s City of Manchester Neighbourhood team into robberies during November around the Village area of the city centre.
Inspector Kam Hare of GMP’s City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Personal robbery can have a huge effect on victims so I am pleased we have four suspects in custody.
“Robbery remains a top priority for our team, not just in the city centre but forcewide and we endeavour to arrest as many as possible who threaten our communities.
"The city centre is increasingly busy over the coming weeks and we want people to enjoy the festive period, so there will be an increase of highly visible patrols throughout the Christmas period to keep people safe.
“Come and speak to us if you have any concerns or if you would like to report any crime please contact police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
“Details can also be passed via our LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
