Over the past few weeks, police have been investigating a series of burglaries along Stockport Road, Longsight, which all appeared to have the same MO, whereby the suspect entered the property via the roof, before ransacking the properties.
After linking the crimes, police from the CoM Central Neighbourhood Crime Team launched a proactive investigation to locate the suspect.
Last night, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Our dedicated Neighbourhood Crime Teams were developed as part of our new Neighbourhood Policing Model, which was launched in March this year (2023). Their role is to lead proactive operations and investigate incidents which are impacting communities the most, without taking any bobbies off the beat.
They work behind the scenes, connecting intelligence to help our neighbourhood police tackle issues such as burglary, car crime and theft, and this arrest is a great example of this work in action.
Detective Inspector Nat McDonald from CoM Central Criminal Investigation Department said: “After hours of CCTV trawls, we were able to identify our suspect and make an arrest.
“We are committed to making sure people feel safe in their homes, and ensuring business owners can feel confident that their premises are safe when unoccupied. Our Neighbourhood Crime Team will continue to track down these types of offenders and remove them from our streets.”
