Detectives investigating a confirmed firearms discharge in Salford this morning (Sunday 29 October 2023) are appealing for witnesses.
At approximately 2:50am officers were called to reports of a male presenting at hospital with a gunshot wound.
Officers attended the hospital and initial enquiries suggested that the victim in his 20’s was at an event at Un.titled Studio on Astor Road in Salford.
At around 2:30am the victim went outside the venue, and he was shot with what has now been confirmed to be a firearm.
The victims’ injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this stage.
An investigation was immediately launched, and the victim and their loved ones are being supported by officers.
No arrests have been made at present and a scene will remain in place at the location of the crime while officers conduct further enquiries.
Officers are now appealing to the public for further information regarding this incident to please contact GMP directly.
Detective Sergeant Karl Perry of GMP’s Salford District said: “Firstly, we would like to reassure the public that the victim of this incident is being taken care of by medical professionals and we are working with them to determine further details regarding this morning’s incident. Of course, this incident will clearly be a shock to the local community who live and work nearby, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the victim receives justice. Extensive enquiries are ongoing and finding those responsible remains an absolute priority. This is being treated as an isolated incident and there are a number of extra uniformed patrols in place around the local community and they will remain there over the coming days to provide visible reassurance. If you need any reassurance or wish to speak to one of our officers, they will be on hand to support you. I would urge anyone who was at the event or anyone who was in the vicinity of Un.titled Studio on Astor Road in Salford around 2:30am who may have heard or seen something to report it to us. Likewise, anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage, should submit this to us. Your information no matter how small it may seem, may be a vital piece of information in our investigation. You can report information by calling 0161 856 5194 or 101 quoting log 637 of 29/10/2023. Alternatively, you can report online via the LiveChat function on the GMP website or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
