Additional patrols in Moss Side, as neighbourhood officers speak to the community

Neighbourhood officers are working alongside detectives to provide additional reassurance to residents following the death of Prince Walker.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Dave Fenton, who is a familiar face in the area, has been working with the team to provide a visible presence the area. He said: “We always want our presence to be a reassuring one, but we understand that this visible presence is especially important now more than ever to our local community after the devastating news yesterday.

“We have stepped up local patrols in the area to provide a visible presence in the area.

“We continue to work with partner agencies and local authorities to minimise any disruption caused to the community, as there is a scene on Raby Street with road closures, and we are doing all we can to keep our residents safe and to ensure we remain engaged with the local community and we are here to answer any of your concerns.

“Local work is ongoing to tackle knife crime, and we continue to work hard to engage our young people through school visits to encourage a culture of reporting.

“We are out and about in the area, we are here to provide support and reassurance to the local community and to reiterate that this kind of violence has no place on our streets, and will not be tolerated.

“We are asking those living around Raby Street to check their CCTV and anything that doesn’t seem right or seems suspicious – please contact us.
