Officers are still investigating violent disorder at a football match in Moston

Greater Manchester Police are continuing to investigate violent disorder that occurred on Saturday 2 March 2024 at Broadhurst Park when FC United of Manchester played against Workington in a league fixture.

Happening around 5:15pm in the aftermath of the match in a bar, officers responded to a disturbance. Thankfully, injuries sustained were not believed to be serious at the time.

Following initial enquiries, officers have identified 13 individuals that attended the match they would like to identify and speak to in relation to this incident, as they believe they have information that may help the investigation.

Since the incident, a 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of public order offences in connection with this incident and has since been bailed.

PC Robert Smith of GMP’s Specialist Operations branch said; “We have got to a point in our investigation where we would like to identify the following people pictured, or if they recognise themselves to come forward to speak to us as we strongly believe they have details that could help us.

“As always with these incidents, especially in football, a large proportion of the crowd attended the game in good spirts and went with the intention of supporting their team and not using violence.

“We are committed on keeping our local communities safe and ensure events across Greater Manchester are reflective of that.”
