Latest update provided on 31/12/24
Following our earlier appeal in relation report of a woman being held and assaulted in a vehicle heading towards Davenport Station on Saturday 28 December, we now believe this to have been a report in good faith.
PC Natalie Jamieson said, “It’s important that when we get serious reports like this, we exhaust all possible lines of enquiry.
“We have spoken to those in the local area and trawled all available CCTV, ring doorbell, road camera and dashcam footage. Unfortunately, all enquiries have proven negative for identifying a victim, suspect, vehicle, or offence at this stage. We have had no further reports connected with this.
“As with all reports, should any new information come to light which would open new lines of enquiry, we will look to explore these.”
Original appeal published 29/12/24
We are extremely concerned for the safety of a woman after a report was made that on Saturday 28 December 2024, a woman tried to exit a vehicle at the crossroads of Rostherne Road and Garners Lane, Stockport, but was dragged back in and assaulted.
The last sighting of what is described as a dark coloured hatchback car was shortly after 6.30am yesterday, heading towards Davenport Train Station.
CCTV stills collected from enquiries made so far. We understand these are not the best quality or clearest images, due to the vehicle moving quickly at the time, but we hope these may trigger someone's memory who may have seen something. It's possible the vehicle has entered neighbouring regions outside of Greater Manchester.
The woman is described as being white, wearing dark coloured leggings and UGG boots. The driver is described as a white man wearing a black coat or jumper.
PC Natalie Jamieson of Stockport CID said, “We have been conducting house to house, CCTV and dashcam footage enquiries since the report, trying to establish the full circumstances of what may have happened.
“So far, these enquiries have proven negative for locating the woman or driver, and we are now in a position of needing to appeal for the wider public’s help.
“At the centre of this is potentially a woman who is in need or urgent safeguarding or medical care, and we need to locate her as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is advised to call Stockport CID on 0161 856 9790 or 101 quoting log 537 of 28/12/24 immediately. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
